Description: Our proposal titled 'Bamboo Rules' is a response to a brief titled 'The Story of Making',
Using one of the most ancient of natural building materials in combination with one of the most modern, ‘Bamboo Rules’ weaves straight lines of bamboo banding back and forth between a CNC fabricated spiralling aluminium frame. The installation tells a story of making, both literally and conceptually, linking man’s historic use of natural renewable materials in construction to present day digital technologies that not only generate entirely new forms but also optimise use and minimise waste of the materials involved. The mechanics of its assembly will be laid bare, telling the story of its own making and construction.
